Commissioners Precincts– Territorial unit served by county commissioners.The Commissioner’s Court is the overall governing body of the county. This “Court” isn’t a Court of Law. It is presided over by the County Judge and handles the county’s budget and tax rate, maintains all county buildings and facilities, and has exclusive authority over all contracts salaries and benefits.
County Election Precincts – Created by order of commissioners court and is the basic unit of voter registration. County clerks and elections administrators conduct elections for all levels of government — local, state and federal. They set up precincts and polling places, coordinate staff, keep voting records and track turnout. Ahead of all this work, tax assessor-collectors take on the task of registering voters and, in some counties, the role of conducting elections can also fall to them.
